The Saturday dawned bright and sunny, and after a guided tour around Buckingham, and a chance to see some German and French-style street actors. After a procession preceded by the Town Crier’s announcement, a three course lunch was served at the Community Centre, attended by members of Twinning and the Councils from all three towns. Entertainment was provided by Brackley Morris Men, which guests from Mouvaux and Neukirchen-Vluyn found both amusing and like nothing they had seen before. After speeches from all the mayors and reports of twinning activites, gifts were exchanged. When the lunch was over, one group went on a guided tour at Stowe, while members of the Buckingham Twinning Association prepared the hall for the evening’s party. Guests were greeted with a glass of prosecco and entertained by Udo Dölz on guitar. Freshly made pizza was provided by the local “Farm Slice”and John Howarth and Safari Boots provided the musical entertainment. The official signing ceremony was carried out, and a celebratory cake was cut. All visitors were given a unique BTA party bag with local goodies, and the evening ended with dancing to the band. On the Sunday, a group from Neukirchen-Vluyn and Buckingham set off early to visit Windsor Castle before parting ways, the German group towards the Channel Tunnel, and the English hosts returning to Buckingham.
