It was a pleasure to accompany our four young delegates from the Royal Latin School, Buckingham when they attended the International Youth Forum in Neukirchen-Vluyn on 16-19 September. The theme of the Forum was to explore how twinning could be developed in the future, and the young people worked together for a whole day on their final presentation, which was excellent. But it was not all work, there was time German-style bowling, a football match, rock climbing, for some, trampolining, even kickboxing. They were also able to take part in the “Dorfleben” festival which was on in Neukirchen-Vluyn on the same weekend. They were able to try out artisan skills like blacksmithing and making furniture from pallets. The young people from Buckingham were fascinated by the differences they found in the German schools, and some were surprised to discover that they had to cycle to school! A return visit from their host partners is planned for Spring 2023.
