A Weekend of Cultural Exchange with Students from Our Twinned Town, Valmadrera, Italy
Valmadrera youth came to town this weekend. 20 students from their training college cooked and served lunch to all comers in the community centre today – bruschetta and pasta, ‘perfetto’! They gave a mini Italian teach-in on around 20 key phrases – dove e il bagno? Where is the loo?, v important! – and a hilarious session on Italian hand gestures. The college Aldo Moro encourages them to travel and cook in European towns, helped by ERASMUS, staying with local families and also paying something towards it themselves.
Many thanks to them, to their teachers and to all our host families.
MP Callum Anderson came to meet them and we took the opportunity for a photocall beneath the new fingerpost sign, ‘Valmadrera 633 miles’, kindly organised by Buckingham Town Council.
