Buckingham

Located in the north of Buckinghamshire on the River Great Ouse, it has been twinned with Mouvaux since 2005, had a Partnership Agreement with Neukirchen-Vluyn since 2012 (converted to full twinning status in February 2020), and established a connection with Valmadrera in June 2020. This was formally concluded on 21 June 2025 when the Italian mayor visited, following the initial signing in Italy in January 2025.

Buckingham enjoys good road and bus links to nearby Oxford and Milton Keynes, both of which are less than half an hour away; inhabitants of the town and surrounding villages totals in excess of 18,000.

The local area offers many rural walks, including along the old canal, as well as good sporting facilities with a number of local clubs: football, rugby union, cricket, hockey, tennis, bowls and korfball. There is also a weekly park run and private golf clubs in the vicinity.

The Old Gaol, housing the Tourist Information office as well as a small museum, is the focal point of the town on Market Hill, with the church of St Peter and St Paul and the old Town Hall dominating the skyline. There is also a university, along with a number of excellent schools.

Originally famous for lace-making and other crafts, the town is now home to a number of small industrial estates which have high-tech industries ranging from engineering including motor, pharmaceutical, food and some small manufacturing companies.

The town still holds a local market twice a week and hosts the historic Charter Fair twice a year.

The links with its twin towns continue to strengthen year on year.
