Twinning Signing Valmadrera
After five years of preparation and the Italian signing in Valmadrera in January, a delegation arrived from Italy on 20 June 2025 to complete the Twinning Agreement with Buckingham. Despite a delayed flight, the guests—including the current and former mayors—were safely settled for an early start the next day.
Saturday began with a guided tour of Buckingham, followed by the official signing at Bourton Park during “Celebrate Buckingham Day.” Heralded by the Town Crier, speeches were made, documents signed, and gifts exchanged, including a watercolour by local artist John Whitehead.
The guests joined in Morris dancing, enjoyed fish and chips, gave a 3Bs Radio interview, visited the Gawcott Church art exhibition, and experienced bell-ringing at Buckingham Parish Church. In the evening, Stephanie and Henry Scrase hosted a delightful outdoor meal, filled with singing, laughter, and even a Hokey Cokey lesson.
After breakfast on Sunday, the delegation departed, leaving the Twinning Association ready to plan future exchange visits and collaborative events with local groups like the Tennis Club and U3A.
