Buckingham
Buckingham is a historic market town in Buckinghamshire, England, situated approximately 45 kilometres northeast of Oxford and around 100 kilometres northwest of London.
Known for its rich history and traditional market town character, Buckingham features a blend of historic architecture, independent shops, and welcoming community spaces. The town is home to the University of Buckingham and hosts a variety of local events throughout the year, including markets, fairs, and community celebrations.
Surrounded by attractive countryside, Buckingham offers a range of walking and cycling routes, as well as easy access to nearby villages and rural landscapes. Its combination of heritage, community spirit, and scenic surroundings makes Buckingham a vibrant and charming place to live and visit.
Located in the north of Buckinghamshire, Buckingham has been twinned with Mouvaux since 2005, entered into a Partnership Agreement with Neukirchen-Vluyn in 2012 (which was later formalised as a full twinning in February 2020), and established a connection with Valmadrera in June 2020. This relationship was formally concluded on 21 June 2025, following the visit of the Italian mayor, after the initial signing in Italy in January 2025.

The Old Gaol, housing the Tourist Information office as well as a small museum, is the focal point of the town on Market Hill, with the church of St Peter and St Paul and the old Town Hall dominating the skyline. There is also a university, along with a number of excellent schools.
Originally famous for lace-making and other crafts, the town is now home to a number of small industrial estates which have high-tech industries ranging from engineering including motor, pharmaceutical, food and some small manufacturing companies.
The town still holds a local market twice a week and hosts the historic Charter Fair twice a year.
The links with its twin towns continue to strengthen year on year.
